Two different auctioneers are sending teams to Felixstowe in the next week to hold valuation sessions.

Everyone has seen TV programmes such as Antiques Roadshow or Flog It when an unsuspecting punter who has an object they think is worth a small amount is delighted to be told it is worth thousands – and wouldn’t we like that to be us?

Experts from Clarke and Simpson will be at the Orwell Hotel, Hamilton Road, on Wednesday (September 5) from 10am to 1pm to give advice on a wide variety of objects.

The company holds a popular auction on Mondays at its site at Campsea Ashe, near Wickham Market.

Then Thursday next week, September 13, experts from Stowmarket-based auctioneers and valuers Bishop and Miller will be holding a free valuation event, also at the Orwell Hotel, from 10am to 2pm.

Items suitable for valuing include silverware, wristwatches and pocket watches, toys and games, vinyl records, jewellery, antiques and fine art, paintings, books, maps, militaria and medals.

Felixstowe, of course, also has its own two specialist auctioneers – Nick Barber Auctions and Diamond Mills, both in Hamilton Road, and who are happy to value any items. Nick Barber specialises in memorabilia, while Diamond Mills are experts in fine art.
