The five-week cookery course was organised by the Rotary Club of Felixstowe in association with Yeo Group Ltd (owners of The Alex, Café Bencotto and View Point Cafe in Felixstowe) and held in the kitchens of Felixstowe Academy.

The students learned a number of culinary skills over the four weeks at the academy from two top chefs from Yeo Group, including head chef, Preston Bloom. The sessions included designing menus and encouraging the youngsters to try exciting, different foods; basic knife skills; and making a variety of starters, main courses and desserts.

Then on the final week they used the skills they had gained to prepare and cook a three-course meal in the Alex Brasserie for their parents and guardians.

Andrew Rowdon, on behalf of the Rotary Club of Felixstowe, said the free course had been a fabulous opportunity for the young people and thanked the Yeo Group and Felixstowe Academy for their help.
