The expressions on the faces of the children are a real treat as they go through the tension, ecstasy and agony of watching their teammates in action.

1995 doesn’t seem that long ago – but these youngsters will be in their late 20s or early 30s by now.

They were at various schools in the town and came together for a summer sports day, school against school – probably either at Orwell High’s playing field or the land in Langley Avenue opposite the cemetery.

Skipping races, obstacle courses and long jumps – where else would you get these kind of challenges than at your school’s sports day?

Many schools usually would host their own sports days, but this event brought together pupils from the town’s various primary schools, all competing to be crowned the victors.

Fortunately, it was a rather bright and sunny day for the children of Felixstowe schools as they had the opportunity to cheer on their friends rather than be stuck in the classroom.

Do you know which schools took part? Who the winners were? Share your memories of the day by joining the conversation at the Enjoy Felixstowe More! Facebook page.
