Developers of a new homes project in Felixstowe held a special event aimed at building community among the new property owners.
Barratt Homes Eastern Counties held a welcome barbecue at Walton Gate – the new homes being built on the field next door to Felixstowe Academy in Walton High Street.
Some 190 number of homes are being built on the south side of the road, while plans are being finalised for around 385 on the north side, the 30-acre field where a Tesco superstore was once proposed.
Moving to a new area can be challenging and many people report that getting to know their new neighbours can be difficult.
Barratt Homes felt the BBQ buffet would provide a chance for new residents to get to know each other as the community at the development grows.
The evening was hosted by the team at the development sales centre.
Annette Hurst, sales director at Barratt Homes Eastern Counties, said: “The event was a great success – we’re delighted that so many of the new neighbours came along. It was the perfect opportunity for us to encourage our new residents to get to know each other.
“It’s incredibly important to us that we develop a welcoming community at our developments as well as building new homes and events such as this are the perfect way to inspire a sense of community spirit.”
Walton Gate has two-bedroom and three-bedroom homes for sale.
