There is still time for youngsters to sign up for an exciting holiday club next week.
Crafts, stories, songs, games, drama and puppet sketches will be part of a trip for youngsters visiting Psalm Tree Island, a fictional land where things aren’t always what they seem.
Up to 45 children a day took part in the event last week, the annual holiday club at Seaton Road Methodist Church in Felixstowe – and next week it is being staged again, this time in the town centre at Trinity Methodist Church.
The week is based around Bible stories of the life of David and includes the chance to create spectacular junk models and take part in team challenges to find treasure.
The children were divided into different teams: The Cheeky Chimps, The Perfect Parrots, The Terrific Turtles, The Lively Lizards, The Spectacular Spiders and the Amazing Alligators, bringing an element of competition to the activities.
A variety of crafts included making treasure boxes, decorating biscuits, creating turtles and making jumping crabs and seahorses. The children also really enjoyed the various team games, taking part with great enthusiasm and all keen to win.
The Watt Family appeared again, enjoying a holiday on the tropical Psalm Island and found out that Mr Niceguy was actually Captain Badguy, the nasty pirate. But, in the end, the Watt Family came out on top!
Ratty and Stinky, our resident rodent puppets, also made a daily appearance and, as usual, were falling out and getting up to lots of mischief!
The week concluded with a special Holiday Club Extra service for the children and their families, held on the Sunday.
Robin and Mary Pattinson, two of the leaders for the week, said “It was great seeing the children really enjoying themselves and all joining in so well; they were all fantastic.”
The holiday club will be at Trinity Methodist Church, Orwell Road, from August 20-24 – to book contact Wendy on 01394 276595.
Children’s activities are held in the Felixstowe Methodist Mission Area all year – contact firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
